20th December 2010

More of Destiny's pictures and gossip will now be on my new facebook, hopefully, if my technical team get their fingers out, it should be up and running by the end of today or tomorrow!  In the meantime here is some pics to stop you all moaning at me!

Sorry we have been AWOL for a couple of weeks, I have heard all your demands for updates and pics, but life has just been so hectic and the new camera battery took forever to arrive!  Destiny is doing fabulously and growing so fast carrying her around is becoming a serious issue, especially in the snow and ice.  Is it really only 3 weeks? I find it hard to remember a time when she wasn't here.  Not a day goes by when she doesn't do something new, usually naughty, and make me smile and laugh.  Eclipse is now completely and utterly besotted with her, and my only concern is that he his going to protected her like my brothers protect me!  Poor girl will never get to do anything. she'll be grounded till she's 18 and have a curfew till she's 30, then lord help her if she tries to bring home some dodgy dog that isn't a border collie with a pedigree as long as your arm!  Still knowing Destiny, she will hop out of the window and meet her friends anyway, have no idea who put that thought into her head....

I had this idea that I was going to get this petite little princess of a girlie who I could dress in pretty pink collars, and indulge my love of girlie things, NO WAY, she is most definately a tom boy, climbs everything, launches herself on the furniture, is so so so determined to get her own way.  I watched her the other day sitting on the rug, her head cocked to one side, looking at the cushion, she sat there for a good minute, then whoosh, she was off, flung herself at the chair, straight on it, grabbed the cushion and yanked it to the floor, all in the blink of an eye.  I did take it off her of course, but only after I'd laughed, marvelled at a nine week old pup figuring it all out, and having taking some pictures.  The problem is even when she does something naughty, she fixes me with those dark brown eyes and I just melt, she is like a little chocolate box puppy, so delightful and such a pleasure to have around that you just have to forgive the naughty stuff.  Even when she wet on my pals Designers Guild rug at the weekend I just didn't have the heart to tell her off, after all it is ONLY a rug.

The ground is frozen and that's what I'd like to do with this time, I know it is going to fly by and before I know it she will be all grown up and doing all the things Border Collies love to do and she will be far to busy to fall asleep in my arms as she does now.  When I started this page I said 2010 has not been all that great, well I'd like to say a huge thank you to Destiny for bringing 2010 to a close with such joy and happiness and that means saying a big big thank you to Trish and Inca for giving me my little treasure.  I would also like to say a massive thank you to all the team at Riverside, you have been fantastic, girls I could not have got through this year without you, I know it was tough at times but you never let me down and pulled it out of the bag everytime, and a big thank you to all the guys from the Met Police Dog Team who helped out so much when I was unwell, it is very true that you really find out who your friends are when times are tough.  Thank you to you all.  I'd also like to say a huge thank you to all our clients, you may not have known it, but working with you all kept me going at times, loving my job and being challenged by you all really helped me keep focussed and the laughter as well as training that goes on every week in classes is the best tonic ever.

Happy Christmas one and all and I hope that 2011 is a fantastic year for everyone....

3rd December 2010

My hairs a mess, my nails are chipped, the house looks like a tornado has been through it, there's no food in the fridge, the washing basket is overflowing and I've forgotton what TV looks like!  Destiny has definately settled in!!!!  She's gone from this cute, sleepy puppy into a whirling dervish is just a few days.... I'd truly forgotton how hard work it is raising a puppy.  Himself is now completely smitten, she swings off his tail, bites him, steals his toys and sleeps in his bed, he just looks on indulgently.  When she really oversteps the mark he bats her with his paw and grumbles, she sidles up to him and gives him a nudge and a kiss and all is forgiven.  He play bows to her, and she turns her back on him, talk about playing hard to get, I laugh and laugh, I have taught my girl well......

On  Wednesday she went on a play date, I went to the PUB, had lunch and actually ate a whole meal without leaping up to pop her outside or rescue something.  I was completely lost when I came home and she wasn't here, how quickly she has become so important in my life.  My new laptop arrived and we were setting it up, within seconds the new cable had teeth marks in it, it wasn't even plugged in yet.....  She is definately a little minx.  General consensus of opinion is that she is going to rule the roost and run me ragged.  We've all been invited out for Sunday lunch, am I brave enough to do that?  She'll love it and get loads of fuss, probably wet everywhere as she wont know where the garden is, which is 80ft so I'll probably lose her out there, everyone will spoil her rotten, as they do Eclipse, the house is full of nice expensive things, just perfect for puppy chewing, maybe I'll just have a few glasses of wine and let it all wash over me.

She loves being outside, even in the snow, nothing seems to phase this little girl.  Roll on the day when she can go to the park, I have a feeling she is going to love it.  All my collies have always been both easily trainable and desperate to please, why do I get this sense that this little madam is going to be the complete opposite.  Someone remind me, why did I get a girl??  I have four nieces, shouldn't I have learnt that all the females in our family are stubborn, strong willed and defiant?  Except me of course.....

29th November 2010

Destiny has had a very busy day, hence she is now sleeping in Eclipse's bed, needless to say Himself is not impressed and has gone to sleep elsewhere!  Destiny came on her first work walk this morning, warmly wrapped and tucked inside a baby carrier, she rode happily round Sheen Common, if I wasn't fit before I will be after carrying her around for the next few weeks.  She met Badger and Bramble, who welcomed her with waggy tails and happy sniffs.  After a mid morning sleep, whilst Mum did more work, she then met Tipsy, to say I was nervous would be a slight understatement, but see for yourself who rules the roost already!  Having swung off Eclipse's tail a few times I think this little lady is going to get a rude awakening some day soon.  I have to say Eclipse's tolerance level so far has amazed me, long may it continue!  We then had an hysterical meeting with the hoover....  Did you not hoover for 7 weeks Trish?  She shot under the table, but then decided attack was the best form of defense, Himself has obviously been chatting to her.  We have training tonight, I wonder how she'll cope with that???? Knowing her she'll just take it all in her stride and demand everyone cuddles her.  My only problem is that I just don't want to leave her, I think I'm going to ground myself for the next few weeks!

28th November 2010

Excellent news, Evie is home and doing really well.  She'd eaten something toxic in Bushey Park, seems like it was a cocunut shell full of fat and stuff that had gone rancid causing Mycotoxin poisoning.  Please take care when your out and about that your dogs don't eat stuff.  We're all so glad she's home safe and sound, sending you loads of love Evie from all your pals, human and canine xxxxxx

And Destiny - slept all night like a little angel. Has been on her first walk, in our arms of course.  Has met Lucky, Willow, Teddy, Herby and Milly, not phased by a thing.  Been to friends for a cuppa tea, and even managed not to embarass me by wetting on the floor.  She actually bats the back door to go into the garden!  Only a border collie could work that out in less than 48 hours, unfortuntately she sometimes has a little tinkle on the way to the door, but her hearts in the right place.... Love Her.  Eclipse is settling down a little with her, had a little sniff and then a nose to nose, she chose that moment to try and leap on him, not a good idea Destiny!

So apart from being exhausted, life is GREAT.

27th November 2010 - SHE'S HOME!!!!!

I can't believe she's finally arrived.  I know it's not Christmas yet, but it feels like it for me so I thought the dogs may as well share the feeling.

I don't know what to say really, unlike me to be lost for words, but I'm loving every second, forgot how hard work raising a puppy is, but hey, who cares.  She's so gorgeous I'm completely under her spell already.

Sadly the same can't be said for Eclipse, who has taken to his bed and refuses to come out!  So typical male, can't bear it when he's not the centre of attention!  Even his new toys and balls didn't work their usually magic.

Destiny loved all her new toys though.  Do I think she's a little spoilt already, yep.....  Got to go now because it's time for her super.

Today has been overshadowed by the awful news that little Evie is a very poorly little dog, she's been poisoned and is currently in the vets, we'd like to send her all our love and best wishes and we are praying for a full and speedy recovery.  We all love you Evie, so get well soon please. xxxx

21st November 2010 - Update

The first one outside, I just so get the feeling this little one is going to be trouble!

This was the last weekend for a while where my life should have been it's normal oasis of calm, BUT there was just so much to squash in before the little ones arrival that my feet just haven't touched the ground.  Saturday consisted of walking Eclipse and then two training sessions.  On the first I heard myself telling the client 'you can either embrace and enjoy this stage, or be miserable'.  Someone please remind me of that when Destiny is crying all night and I have to wake up at the crack of dawn to take her outside in the freezing cold!  I then shot over to St George's Hill to train a lovely lovely rescue dog, this dog has stolen my heart and I'm loving working with her and her owners.  The lady still has to get up at 6am to help the housetraining, and it's so rewarding to work with people that are so dedicated, and to see a rescue dog blossoming so well.  Again I was reminded of how much work and dedication I am going to be facing in just a few days.  Finally, it was time to sit down for our X Factor night, friends, canine and human, curry, vodka, the most delicious pud ever, dogs sprawled out over all the sofa's (saturday night treat only!).  It struck me that next Saturday night is going to be oh so different!  I wonder if I'll even get to see X Factor not alone be able to entertain..  Today consisted of so many people in my house I actually lost count at one point.  Why?  Well mostly so we could finish getting everything ready for a certain young lady.  A fence erected to protect Destiny from falling into the fish pond, and to protect my plants from being eaten!  Space made for her crate and play pen, all things valuable to me or dangerous to pups moved out of the way, etc etc. You really do forget how simple life is when you only have adult, fully trained dogs.  It's 10pm and all is calm again now, I just stood in the kitchen waiting for the kettle to boil so I could sit with a cuppa and write this and I realised something.  I am one very lucky girl.  Not only do I have a job I love, people who pull out all the stops to help me (thanks so much guys, I love you all), but also in just a few short days my life is going to be further enhanced by this gorgeous bundle of joy.  Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible, I know so many of you are as excited as I am and can't wait to finally meet her.  'No Pressure Destiny!!!'
And the last one IN!!!!!!

Tina (Lima) - Update

Tina (Lima) is doing so well, she's settled into her new home and is happily wagging her tail.  I took her out on Thursday and she certainly has the measure of Eclipse, any lady who can work him out so quickly certainly has my respect and admiration.  Eclipse obviously fancies her something rotten, but she's certainly going to make him work very hard to win her over!  Seeing him chase after her and her glancing over her shoulder to make sure she still had his full attention was hysterical.  Then she stole his ball, I held my breathe for a second, did he love this new lady in his life more than his ball, it seems so!  Another happy ending.......

13th November 2010 - Update

Do you ever have one of those days when you wake up in the morning and think this is either going to be a fantastic day or a very bad one? Today was one of those days for me.  Wispa's potential new owners were visiting her and I was taking a friend to see Lima, a 2 year old border collie in need of a new home, she's beautiful and Eclipse's half sister and I was visiting Destiny for probably the last time before coming home day arrives.  Well it turned out to be a FANTASTIC day.  Destiny is just so gorgeous I wanted to cry.  She climbed straight onto my knee and I really felt like she was saying 'Hi Mummy, where have you been? I've missed you'.  She then bit my ear, my nose and my leg through my jeans, I have a feeling this little girl is going to be a bundle of trouble.  We introduced Mr Eclipse and my friends dog McBaine to Lima on a walk, also there was the beautiful Shara, who happens to be my beloved Skys' sister, seeing her is always bitter sweet for me.  The four dogs got along brilliantly and watching 4 stunning collies run in front of me playing was just heaven. It also struck me that here was several generations of Border Collies that had become so much a part of my life, who would have believed that when I first picked up that little bundle of joy that was Sky, I have so much to thank that boy for.   Needless to say my friend fell for Lima's charms and she is now investigating her new home and garden under McBains watchful eye.  Wispa's potential new owners feel for her considerable charms too and she now has a new home to go to in Windsor, not as close as I'd like, but close enough that her and Destiny can remain pals I hope.  It never ceases to amaze me that whatever is going on in ones world, the sight of some waggy tails and a lick or two, can just bring joy to ones heart.  Two weeks to go......  I can hardly contain myself...... I have a feeling the end of this year is going to be just terrific.

6th November 2010 - Update

Destiny is growing so fast, she's a little darling.  Her first attempt at solids was a little messy!  She seems a little ball obsessed already....  Eclipse is hiding his toys and is grateful that his toy box is taller than her at the moment.

Life at the moment is quiet and peaceful, except for the guys getting the house and garden ready for her highnesses arrival.  I keep telling myself I should enjoy this quiet time as I have a feeling that will all end when this little pickle comes home!  You shouldn't wish your life away, but I do find myself smiling wishfully and hoping that the next 3 weeks fly by!

Wispa

Meet Wispa!  Wispa is Destiny's sister.  She is totally gorgeous too.  She is looking for a lovely home.  If you are a border collie fan and looking for a new pup, then please give me a call

Please remember this little ball of fluff will grow up to be a highly intelligent, very active little lady who will need lots of exercise and stimulation.  Border Collies are not for couch potatoes!

Wispa and Destiny are very close so it would be lovely to find a local home for Wispa and yes, I do want to keep her too, but Eclipse would definately pack his bags!

22nd October 2010 - Update

How Cute are those paws?

Destiny seems to have made some fans!  By popular request you can now send your messages and we'll post the best ones.  She might even respond if she can master the laptop!  I know she's a border collie, but she is still a baby so it might take her a day or two!
Click here to post your message to Destiny.

First attempt at porridge!                                                  Think I might have a chewer!

It would be such a shame to split these two up as they appear to be joined at the hip, might have them both.....

Scroll down for more pics.

Hi little Willow, I'm told that you were once a pink dog!  You rolled in something really really nice apparently and Mummy had to give you a shampoo, think you must be a fun dog to be around.  I'm sad that I can't be with you tomorrow, you're all going to have curry and vodka and bonio's and watch X Factor.  Mummy says I have the X Factor.  Will join you for the a curry night soon though.  Love and Licks (can't woof yet) Destiny xxx

Hello Sweet Little Bella, yes it's all down to you!  Eclipse and I missed you sooo much when you were gone that we just had to have a little mini-you.  Destiny was born whilst you were causing chaos in my house, I should have learnt my lesson really lol.  I think you and Destiny will be the best of friends and Baron will have his poor tail pulled even more!  Just one thing little one, please don't teach Destiny to run off to the water and completely ignore me!  I'm going to enjoy watching the pair of you run rings round Eclipse!  Love you, Lucy xxx

Hi Auntie Jo, I'm such a lucky puppy, I have loads and loads of Aunties and cousins and new friends and I can't even stand up properly yet.  Mummy says Luna is big and she loves her loads and loads and she's very good at agility, but not as good as us Collies. Has Luna got a pink collar with sparkly bits?  I'm big on cuddles, I love to snuggle necks.  I can't wait to see you and all my cousins. Hello Auntie Laura, I do like pink, do you think I'll get a pink collar and lead, with sparkly bits?  Mummy says Emily is adorable too and likes pink, but pink ear plugs are definately a must!  I hear you've been a little bit sad so I'm sending you little collie hugs and licks and you must remember good will win over evil, so keep smiling please, coz you are a very special girl.  By the way, what is a lush? Lots of Love Destiny xxx

'Ahh thats nice Mummy has told you I am a very good friend of hers, well let me tell you she is a great friend to me too, although I think we drive each other nuts at times, but hey isn't that what good friends are all about. You will soon learn that with your new friends and don't worry about your brother we are sure he will be just fine and as for Lucky destroying your pink toys she will given half the chance, so we will ensure you have some tuggie toys and you can have a good time with her with them. Love you lots Aunti Ali n Lucky - Kentucky woofs n licks xxxxx '

Mum says you make her laugh Aunti Ali, she says instead of 'Hi, How are You?' you always greet her with a barage of questions and she says you NEVER stop talking, but she did also say that she loves you loads and that Lucky Tucky is going to be one of my bestest friends.  We might have to wait until my big teeth come to play tuggie though Lucky Tucky.  Come and visit me soon please. Destiny xxx

'this is Inca.... Destinys mummy i would like to say i hope all the friends at Riverside she is going to meet soon will all be nice and friendly towards her and not teach her any bad habits ! please remember she is a tiny baby and don't pounce on her and squash her and dont bat her on the head !   I am very pleased that my human mummy found Lucy to be Destinys human mummy, I know she will be loved to bits and I will see her when she visits us. Hopefully mummy Lucy will show her and she will become a champion like me.  I'm sure she and Eclipse will grow to love each other, and he wont mind when she takes his toys off him.  Love Inca x'

Oh Inca you gorgeous girl, thank you so much for giving me little Destiny, we will love her to bits don't worry and she will grow up to be a very spoilt girl, but well trained of course!  We will visit you often, as long as we get tea and lots of Collie cuddles.  Love you gorgeous girl Lucy x

'I don't know about "a cat" but I am THE CAT. I like fishshshsh and prrrrrrrrrrawns and I have very sharp sharp bits. I hate it when that Rosie Posie licks me all over and one of these days I might just use those sharp bits to teach her some manners ......   Maisiexxx'

Gulp, I don't think I like the sound of THE CAT!  Please be nice Maisie Mog.  Destiny xx

'It`s so exciting, we cannot wait to meet you Destiny, your Mummy has told us so much about you already! I am Aunti Ali who you will be meeting and seeing a lot off and Lucky, who I might add is your brothers best friend. I am sure I will get to handle you in the puppy class and we will show mummy what a clever girl you are. See you soon you little darling xx'

Mummy has told me all about you Aunti Ali, she says you are a terrific friend, not to mention a great Aunti to my big bro, I'm bit scared of him, but Mum says Lucky will look out for me, but not to share my pink toys with Lucky Tucky coz she rips all the stuffing out!  I like the sound of that game. Destiny xxx

''ello puppy, you coming out to play soon? You could come and rocket round our garden and race round the sitting room and annoy the cat ....  Rosie Posiexxxxx'

ello Rosie Posie, I'm coming out to play in 5 weeks and 2 days, Mum is counting.....   Destiny xxx ps What is a cat?

'Hi little collie person. I have a collie person friend called Cordelia, when she was a pup I used to give her spanielly care. After walks I would give her a good all over wash and lick over. Sometimes I would wash her during our walks, I would dig a hole and pop her in it so she didn't wriggle too much. I'm sure a good spaniel wash from time to time will do you good.   Oh, and I can teach to bark. I bark really loud and often.   Lizzie Sqigl Wigl Wigl xxx'

Lizzie Sqigl Wigl Wigl - I love you dearly, but you are NOT to teach my gorgeous girl to bark.  I refuse to pass this email onto her in the interest of her future training!  AL xxx

This year started with a bang, literally, with a car crashing into me on the 4th January, not a good start to the year hey! Things didn't get any better, trust me, 2010 has been a tough year. With the loss of my beloved Free life seemed incredibly hard and a gaping hole was left in so many people's lives. It is hard to imagine that one little rescue dog could touch so many people, but Free achieved that and so much more. He took all the knocks that life threw at him, but still he waged his tail and treated everyone like they were his best friend, he saw lots of dogs come and go, welcome them all, never really gave me a moment of worry, his antics made me laugh so much and gave the best of cuddles. He was undoubtedly the best friend a girl could have. How do you move on from that? Well it seems fate gives a helping a hand, it must be Destiny....

                                                                                                                                                                  Destiny with Mum Inca

I’ve loved Inca from the moment I laid eyes on her, so when I heard she was having pups I was so excited. The scan revealed she was carrying 3 puppies; I needed them all to be bitches in order that I could have one. The odds were not good! The first pup out was a girl, I text to say ‘please ask Inca for another girl, a little dark one would be nice’, out popped ‘Destiny’, the last pup out was also a girl.

Thank You Inca, you clever girl.

2010 has not been an easy year, but from bad can come good, I have learnt such a lot this year. I have learnt that when life throws you a curve ball (or two or three), there is little point trying to dodge them, face them, catch them, consign them to the trash and move on. I have learnt the true meaning of friendship, thank you to everyone for all your love and support. I have learnt that my love of dogs will always keep me grounded and focussed, and when times are tough it’s amazing what a lick or paw can do!

Yesterday I cuddled Destiny for the first time, she’s just one week old, she nuzzled into my neck and the joy was overwhelming. This year has led me to a place where I was ready, willing and able to welcome this gorgeous little girl into my life, for that alone it has all been worth it. This morning I woke with a huge smile on my face and named this little bundle of joy ‘Destiny’. It just seems so right.

As for Himself, Eclipse, what does he make of all this, well he’s in the dark right now, he keeps hearing whisperings of ‘little sister’. I know he misses all his past friends so here’s hoping that he welcomes her as his new playmate. He did mention that he’s not sharing his bonio’s or toys though! A quick trip to Chapman’s sorted that out, £50, yes £50 later, we have pink toys galore, and a pink bed should be arriving from America soon, am I an indulgent Mum, yes and I love it!
